About the Author

Stephanie is the youngest of Jim’s four daughters. She grew up in Fruitport, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame (magna cum laude), where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and Duke University School of Law, where she served on the Duke Law Journal. She practiced corporate law at law firms and corporations in New York City, Houston, and Palo Alto before settling in Austin in 2001. Most recently, she served as general counsel and chief compliance officer of publicly traded and privately held companies. In addition, she has served on the boards of directors of several charitable organizations and is a founder and past president of non-profit legal organizations. Stephanie edited Jim’s book, Scagel Handmade, published in 2010. She is happily married and has two daughters and two stepchildren, all of whom are wonderful.
